The Dewey Decimal System was invented
by
Librarian Melvil Dewey, in the 1870s.
The
system organizes information into 10
classes
of subjects that are broken into smaller
and smaller groups. The Dewey Decimal
Classification
(DDC) system is said to be the most
widely
used classification system. We were
planning
to use this system for our online book
order
system as a Amazon affiliate but after
much
frustration we have decide why reinvented
the wheel when computer can locate
a group
of titles on any subject in seconds.
